He' Back: Michael Vick Lands Endorsement Deal

Mike Vick was once the face of the NFL. He had tons of profitable endorsement deals that slipped through his fingers when he was convicted of murdering dogs. Many believed that his career was over and wrote him off.

Those same people are feeling pretty stupid these days after Vick's reemergence this past season. Not only did he score big on the field, but now he's once again scoring big off of it.

Vick will be the new corporate pitch man for Unequal Technologies, the company who makes the pads he wore for the Eagles this year. According to USA Today, Vick signed a two-year deal which will be officially announced Thursday.

"We're real excited about it," chief executive officer Rob Vito said Tuesday. "Michael is good people. He paid his dues."

The terms of the deal have yet to be released, but are said to be quite lucrative for Vick who regained his old form in 2010-2011.

"The Unequal technology is a part of my game now and I won't play without my Unequal," Vick said in a statement acquired by the Associated Press. "Unequal's protective power gives me a whole new level of confidence in my game. It makes me feel invincible."

While I don't know how invincible Vick is, I do know that he's gotten his act together enough to get some fresh opportunities and that's admirable.

The first man he should be calling to say thanks is Tony Dungy, because without Dungy, Vick probably wouldn't have received another shot.

If you checked out the previous post, then you saw Calderon get embarrassed by Mario Chalmers. How quickly we can move on.

NBA Video: Mario Chalmers' Ball Fake Breaks Jose Calderon's Ankle

A good ball fake is a thing of beauty in most cases, unless you're the one who's on the receiving end of it. Don't believe me, just ask Raptors' point guard Jose Calderon who went down like he got shot on this Mario Chalmers fake.

Calderon was in some serious pain. He may want to consider getting a better ankle brace. Just a thought.

ESPN Video: John Saunders Weighs In On Carmelo Anthony

Last week I briefly shared some of my feelings about Carmelo Anthony and all of his trade speculation in Making The Rounds. If you read it, then you know I've had enough of the entire thing.

While scouring the Internet for news as I normally do, I ran across a segment with ESPN veteran John Saunders. Looks like he and I are in the same boat on Melo. Check it out.

NBA Video: Blake Griffin Reverse Ally-Oop Slam Versus Golden State

Yep, it's another Blake Griffin post folks. Whether you like it or not, this young man has dominated my site more than any other athlete in the last three or four months. He's just getting it done every night.

He almost recorded a phat triple-double, but came up just two dimes shy. His line was still one of the most impressive of the year. Griffin finished with 30 points, 18 boards, and 8 dimes. The best part about the performance was that the Clippers actually won another game. Final score was 113-109.

NBA Video: Chris Paul with a Nasty Crossover on Tony Parker

I find it difficult to say anything bad about Tony Parker since he's been on every fantasy team of mine for the last five years. All he does is help me win championships. Thanks TP!

Now with that being said here is Parker being victimized by Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. I warn you it's ugly.

Brett Favre: "What Should I Do?" - LeBron Spoof

Easily the funniest thing I've seen all day, maybe even in 2011. This LBJ spoof on Brett Favre was well done and right on the money. Favre really is the "creepy" old man.

Making The Rounds: Melo's Boring Me, Manning/Brady, and Scumbag McDaniels Good For Bradford

Debuting a new posts called "Making The Rounds". Gonna hit the hot topics and let you know what I think. It's nothing major, but it's giving me an outlet to vent. Haven't decided how often this post will appear, but let's get this first one under way for the sake of conversation.

Carmelo Anthony - The trade talk has been going longer than the oil spill. If Melo doesn't want to be in Denver, then he needs to say publicly(via agent/publicist of course) that he doesn't want to be there. If he doesn't plan on signing an extension with the team he's dealt to, then needs to come out and say publicly he's not going to resign with them. This story is old, this story is boring, and frankly this story is bringing the Nuggets down. We saw how bad "The Decision" worked out, and honestly this production isn't much better.

But wait, Melo says he's tired of it too. Please.

Peyton Manning/Tom Brady - I've seen a few posts recently claiming the demise of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Talk about the ends of era's and what not. Now I dislike Tom Brady like flat beer and bad sex. Those things are all just wrong and should be punishable by law, but I digress.

Manning just threw for a career high in yardage (4,700) and tied his second best touchdown pass output for a season (33). It's clear that the O line didn't protect as well as it has it the past, but Manning was still able to operate at a high level for the majority of the year. All he did was make a bunch of waiver wirer nobodies look good. All he did was take the Colts back to the playoffs for the I lost count year. He could have been your MVP again this season especially considering what the Colts endured. His brilliance may have an expiration date, but it ain't close.

So what if Tom Brady has been knocked out of the playoffs the last couple of years in the first round. All the guy does is win and he does it impressively year after year. The QB Rating was 111.0 and he threw 36 touchdown passes in 2010. Those 36 are the second most of his career. Oh yeah, he only tossed four picks all year. So you want me to believe that a guy who's TD/INT ratio is that good is facing a decline? Favre sure never saw it coming.

The Patriots have one of the most potent offensive machines in the league, and it's built for Tom Brady. He loves to go to the tight ends, so look what happened. They now have a three headed monster at tight end. I believe he's got a contract, a coach, and an organization that is behind him being the man there for quite sometime to come.

Josh McDaniels - If you weren't aware or hadn't figured it out, I'm from St. Louis, Missouri (ree not ra) and of course the latest big news here is about the hiring of Josh McDaniels. I think it's a good hire, but I'm suspect of the man and his character. Everything associated with New England still stinks to me and unfortunately for McDaniels, so does he. He will be great with Sam Bradford though. The Rams will be better getting the ball down the field. They will score more points per game. Hell, they may even have one of the more high octane offenses in the entire NFL. I believe all those things are legitimately possible.

What I have a hard time wrapping my head around, although I once again think it's a good hire, is the fact that he's clearly not somone of high character and moral standing. He was guilty in New England. He was then guilty in Denver. Are we starting to see a pattern here folks? He might have a wonderful football mind, but I think it sends the wrong message to the fans about your product. I mean that not just about the Rams, but for the National Football League as a whole. I hear so much talk about maintaining the integrity of the game and the shield, but what does it say to have cheaters getting jobs as if nothing ever happened.

Bart Scott -

Plaxico Burress - He's gonna get out of prison, come back to the NFL and be a serious player again. There will be many people eating crow similar to the kind they had with Michael Vick. If you don't flip your argument, it's gonna burn like that nasty venereal disease you picked up on Spring Break 87. You've been warned.

LFL News: Lingerie Football League Hotties Doing Playboy

We've all heard the expression that if it looks to good to be true, then it most likely is. Well that was true until today.

The amazingly hot ladies of the Lingerie Football League already grace the gridiron almost naked, and now they will take their "talents" to the pages of Playboy Magazine.

Hugh Hefner is giving the LFL even more exposure than it already has. That seems difficult considering the uber hot uniforms these chicks already wear, but I have faith that Hef won't disappoint.

The February issue of Playboy will feature 10 girls, one from each of the LFL squads.

I haven't bought an issue of Playboy in ages, but I think I'll be sure to pick this one up. Will you?

NFL News From The Lou: Laurence Maroney Arrested (Mug Shot Included)

When you come back home to St. Louis it's usually bad news. On Monday night, hometown star and Denver Broncos running back Laurence Maroney was stopped and arrested.

Maroney and some buddies were cruising around Chaifets Arena when they were stopped by local police. The officers say Maroney and several other associates were circling the the arena with their cars, slowing traffic, and reportedly smoking reefer.

Inside one of the two vehicle stopped, officers found three guns, and a substance believed to be marijuana.

One of the guns was registered to Maroney, who does own a conceal and carry permit for it, however at the time of this incident he wasn't in possession of it. His publicist has denied any claims that Maroney was in possession of marijuana.

Not a good look for Laurence. Last guy to come home and have a problem with the law was the phenombust, Darius Miles. Miles was arrested back in 2009 for driving with a suspended license and also having some cheeba. If I'm not mistaken he was carjacked on the previous visit. Miles' career never really got on track, similar to the way things are going for Maroney right now.

NBA Video: J.R. Smith Makes Sweet Reverse Layup

J.R. Smith has more than enough talent to be one of the best players in the NBA. The kid shows flashes of brilliance every now and again, but he hasn't been able to put it all together yet.

His Nuggets took care of business against the Miami Heat Thursday in a 28 point blowout. J.R. knocked down eight three pointers and finished with 28 points in just 27 minutes.

Smith wasn't just hot from the outside either. Check him out here as he takes Mario Chalmers to the rack and makes a sweet reverse layup midway through the fourth quarter.

If Melo decides to leave town, Smith would become the Nuggets most versatile offensive player. Of course that means Al Harrington would have to be shipped out too.

NBA Video: Darko Milicic Scores for Wrong Team

Darko Milicic's career just hasn't lived up to expectations. Since being drafted #2 overall in the 2003 NBA draft, it's been all down hill for the 25 year-old Serbian star.

His draft class was full of legit talent. Three out of the top five picks are now playing in South Beach, and Carmelo Anthony will likely soon be on his way to either New York City or New Jersey. His peers are now NBA royalty, while Darko has been labeled a bust. Somewhere Joe Dumars is still kicking himself.

Check Milicic out here providing some comic relief for all NBA fans.

I still don't understand why Minnesota gave him such a lucrative deal this past offseason. You typically give millions of dollars to players who have earned it, or at least to those who seemingly will do so. Darko hasn't come close to doing either and in all honestly it doesn't look like he ever will.

Vick Earns NFL Comeback Player of The Year Honors

It' been a whirlwind season for Michael Vick, and although his run at MVP fell short, he did earn a nice piece of hardware to commemorate his return to greatness Wednesday.

Vick was named the NFL Comeback Player of The Year after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a 10-6 regular season record and a NFC East division crown.

After struggling to get on the field for extended action last year, Vick had arguably his best season as a starting quarterback. For the first time in his career the former Falcons star was more than just a scrambling mad man. He finally demonstrated to the masses that he could be just as effective from the pocket, throwing for 21 touchdowns and racking up just over 3,000 yards through the air.

The trademark speed and quickness made a return as well. Vick showed he could get it done in the run game rushing for 676 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Eagles will have some very tough decisions to make in the offseason. Vick, 30 will be a free agent, and his backup Kevin Kolb is looking to be dealt if he isn't given the opportunity to be the Philadelphia starter. It's a dilemma that most coaches would die for, and certainly a story that will be at the forefront of NFL news in the coming months.

The audio these days is so good that we often hear players dropping F-bombs and just about every other profane word in the book on a nightly basis. Kevin Garnett is notorious for his foul mouth.

The following clip isn't of a player cussing like a sailor, but of a fan. This was during the Florida versus Tennessee game on Tuesday night.

The lady was dropping some serious language on the camera man. I counted at least two WTF's in there. I'm really surprised that ESPN didn't pan away from her, especially considering how anal the worldwide leader in sports can be. Glad they didn't for the sake of this post though.

It was quite possibly the most improbable win in the history of the NFL. The 7-9 Seattle Seahawks stunned the defending Superbowl champion New Orleans Saints on Saturday 41-36, and in the process Marshawn Lynch gained a bit of redemption.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2012 Won't Feature Woods on the Cover

I'm a huge fan of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf series. Tiger and EA Sports have been partnered since 1999 and have proven to be a dynamic team. The series is one of the most profitable in gaming history.

As we all are well aware, Tiger isn't the top ranked player in the world anymore, and now he won't even be on the cover of his own video game. EA has decided to scrap Tiger's picture for one that features a backdrop of the Masters tournament. The yellow flag of Augusta National golf course is prominently displayed on the cover of the new Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12.

According to videogame analyst David Cole of DFC Intelligence, sales of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 were down 50% to 60% on a worldwide basis from 2009. While EA stood by their cover athlete, they did not work with him to promote the game last year. Traditionally, Woods does media interviews and appearances to launch each new game. (via THR)

Even if the sales were down last year, removing the star from the cover of the game is an odd idea. Can you imagine if the classic boxing game Mike Tyson's Punch Out didn't have Tyson on the cover? It would have been weird, and frankly so is EA's decision to remove Woods.

Tiger's image may still be a wreck, but I highly doubt his face on the game is that much of a difference maker in sales.

Ted Williams is The Homeless Man with The Golden Voice

In life some great talents have been lost to drug and alcohol abuse. Stars that shined brightly are dulled out by addiction and disease, so it's always heartwarming to see a great recovery story.

A few days ago the following video became an Internet sensation. Ted Williams, who looks nothing like the baseball legend with the same name, is a homeless man with a booming radio voice.

Williams has been living on the streets and panhandling along an Ohio interstate to survive. A journalist with the Cleveland Dispatch found Mr. Williams on the side of the road and decided to conduct what has now become a life altering interview.

Since the interview went viral, Williams has been hit with tons of offers from radio stations and other organizations like the Cleveland Cavaliers and NFL Films.

I really hope that Mr. Williams will be able to take advantage of these new opportunities. He's been blessed with a second chance. His story is certainly one that we all can look at for inspiration.

NBA Video: Blake Griffin Rise and Fly Against Nuggets

With each passing game Blake Griffin is raising the bar for what we should expect from rookies in the NBA.

Through 35 games Griffin has recorded 28 double-doubles, including 22 straight dating back to November 18th. He's now averaging 21.7 ppg, 12.5 rpg, and 3.2 apg on 52.3% shooting from the field.

It's not just the numbers that make Griffin special. To me it's the way he has re energized the Los Angeles Clippers franchise. For years L.A.'s "other" basketball team has been the perennial laughing stock of the NBA. The team has an owner that nobody likes, a front office that has made some of the most questionable decisions in league history, and a fan base that has been ashamed to claim their team. To quote a high school coach of mine, the situation has been one big clusterfuck.

It's clear that times have changed. Griffin's game, grit, and raw enthusiasm have helped the Clippers turn a much needed corner. Donald Sterling may still be a lame owner, and it will take time for folks to have faith in management, but it's an improvement. Their record may only be 11-24, but I don't see the embarrassment in the faces of the fans anymore. They're now on the edge of their seats for a full 48 minutes and it's not because Kobe, LeBron, or Kevin Durant is in their building.

Here is visual evidence of exactly what I mean.

Blake had a monster game against Denver. Dude dropped 22 points, grabbed 18 boards, and handed out seven dimes. The best part about Griffin's solid performance, was the fact that the Clippers actually defeated Denver 106-93.

O.J. Mayo Gets Beat Up At 30,000 feet

According to Can't Stop The Bleeding, Memphis Grizzlies' guard O.J. Mayo and teammate Tony Allen had a bit of an incident on the teams flight Monday night.

Reports state that Mayo and Allen engaged in a card game that resulted in Mayo losing somewhere around $1,500 bucks. The report also states that Mayo refused to pay and was being extremely rude to Allen about the whole thing.

Now here's where it gets good. After sitting through Mayo's verbal abuse, TA excused himself and went to the pisser. When he returned Mayo was still being ass , so Allen punched O.J. in the grill.

“Tony warned (Mayo) to watch his mouth, and (Mayo) didn't do it and just kept going off on him,” a source told Yahoo! Sports.

That's one hell of a team building exercise if you ask me.

Allen has since apologized to the team for his behavior. Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace says the team believes that this incident is in the past and will not cause the Memphis any problems going forward.

These guys make millions of dollars and gamble all the time. I would suggest that if O.J. Mayo isn't man enough to pay his debts that he refrain from playing in the future. Black eyes and busted lips aren't a good look.

NBA Videos: Heat Flying Above The Rim Versus Bucks

First up is D-Wade with a tip dunk over Ersan Ilyasova. Wade is on a tear the last week or so, and he looks like he's in midseason form. He tallied 34 against Milwaukee, and has scored 30 or more in four out of the last five games.

Props to thehoopscene.

Second up is Chris Bosh, who has also stepped his game up for the surging Miami Heat. Bosh dropped 19 points and 12 boards on the Bucks to go along with this dunk over Andrew Bogut.

"The Black Mamba" Passes Dominique Wilkins for 10th on NBA Scoring List

Kobe Bryant has hoisted up his fair share of shots during his 14 year NBA career. Some were good and many have been questionable, but that's a topic for an entirely different debate.

On Tuesday night Bryant passed the legendary "Human Highlight Film" Dominique Wilkins for 1oth on the NBA all-time scoring list. He's now scored 26,671 points for his career.

Kobe drove to the basket midway through the third quarter against Detroit and scored a layup to achieve the milestone.

Bryant and the struggling Lakers beat the lowly Pistons 108-83. Kobe finished the game with 17 points on 6-18 shooting from the field.

Oscar Robinson sits ninth on the all time list with 26,710 points. Kobe now only needs 39 points to pass "The Big O". The next active player that #24 can pass is former teammate and current Celtics' center Shaquille O'Neal (28,500).

In case you were wondering, Bryant still needs 5,621 points to catch up with the great Michael Jordan.

Tennis Video: Roger Federer Magical Between The Legs Winner

It's January and that means the return of professional tennis to primetime. It's perfectly alright to admit you missed seeing all of your favorites in action. I won't tell anybody.

The Australian Open will run January 17-30, but before the games top stars show up for the first grand slam of the year in Melbourne, they typically require a little fine tuning.

Here you can catch Roger Federer in a first round match at Doha hitting a wicked between the legs winner.

Looks like Roger is already in top form. I'm looking forward to some epic matches this season between he and Rafael Nadal. Both guys are playing at a high level and will likely be battling for the #1 ranking all year long.

It's the season to have your boot game right, so here is a look at the Nike ACG Woodside Lunarlon.

NFL Video: Arthur Blank Gets Gatorade Shower in Atlanta

Some moments in sports can warm even the coldest hearts. For me, seeing Arthur Blank get a Gatorade shower on Sunday was one of those moments.

Blank's Atlanta Falcons have had their fair share of ups and downs the last few years. They lost the NFL's most exciting player in Michael Vick and the services of head coach Bobby Petrino all within 12 calendar months. The team with the bright future found themselves in a dark hole without a flashlight.

Even with all the negativity surrounding the Falcons, Blank and his management group didn't give up on the team or the city. He went out and signed Mike Smith to be the head man, drafted Matt Ryan, and acquired the services of Michael Turner from San Diego.

Fast forward a couple years and the Falcons are on the verge of getting to the Superbowl and finally shaking the demons of the past. Congrats to the organization and the city on turning things around for the better.

NBA Video: Baron Davis with a No Look Allep-Oop to Blake Griffin

It wouldn't be appropriate to start your week without a Blake Griffin highlight.

B Diddy and Mr. Griffin have some wonderful chemistry. The two have hooked up more times this season than Kim Kardashian at any NBA all star weekend. That my friends is really saying something.

Anyway, check out this ridiculous no look alley-oop pass and finish from the Clippers dynamic duo.

NHL Video: Evander Kane Scores From His Rump

This is a very unique goal scored by Evander Kane of the Atlanta Thrashers. The kid is literally on his ass when he finds a way to shoot and score. Pretty sweet.

Kane's seated goal was the difference in the game, as the Thrashers went on to win the game by a final score of 4-3. If you haven't heard of Kane before it's time to start paying attention, as he's definitely someone to keep on your hockey radar.

Hoops Video: Jared Cunningham's Tip Dunk Against Arizona

It's now the time of the year when the basketball highlights start to take over blogs, websites, and top ten lists. Who am I to stray away from the norm?

Here you can see Oregon State's Jared Cunningham slam home a tip-dunk over a few Arizona defenders and a couple Beaver teammates.

NBA Video: Paul Pierce Dunks on Amir Johnson with Authority

There isn't much to say....

For a guy who's never been the most athletic in the world, Paul Pierce defied gravity and conventional wisdom with his flush over Amir Johnson. I didn't know "The Truth" still had that in those old tired legs.

Hat tip to The Hoop Scene.
