Exclusive!!! Smiff's Smackdown Spoiler
If you don't want to spoil results of this Friday's Smackdown, then stop reading this article now.
This Friday on WWE Smackdown, current Money in the Bank winner & the All American-American American, Jack Swagger, cashes in to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Swagger took advantage of Chris Jericho, who was down from an attack by Edge. Don't believe me, check out the footage for yourself & remember where you heard it first.

Hoops Video: Chris Bosh Dunks on Gerald Wallace
Bosh may have dunked Gerald Wallace on this play, but look at how Wallace really made an effort to contest. When he left the floor he honestly believed he had a chance of getting the block. In the end he just didn't have the size or length to stop Bosh on that play. Effort appreciated. Makes for a better poster.
Hoops Video: Flip Murray with the Hook Shot From Half Court
As soon as I saw this I immediately thought of Billy Hoyle in White Men Can't Jump. You remember the scene where he had to make some incredible shot to get Gloria on Jeopardy? Well, the hook shot to the Sudan is somewhat similar to Flip's deep toss here, except Billy's counted. Murray's was deeper though. Check it out.

Video: Caron Butler with Old Spice (Mavs Musk) Parody
Most of us have had a chance to see the Old Spice commercial with the guy riding the horse backwards, and if you haven't then look for it. Apparently, Caron Butler and the Dallas Mavericks enjoyed the spot enough to film their own little parody.
If using Mavs Musk will help me drop 25 points a night like Dirk, or knock down three's like Jason Terry, then count me in. Butler is outstanding in his role and may have an acting career once his hoops career is over. Simply fantastic!

Smiff's Wrestlemania Picks

Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Eve, Gail Kim & Beth Phoenix vs. Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, Divas Champion Maryse, Layla, Alicia Fox & Vickie
Smiff's PICK:Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, Divas Champion Maryse, Layla, Alicia Fox & Vickie:No real strategy behind this pick. I just like Layle so I figure I would pick her team to win.
If Punk wins, Mysterio joins the Straight Edge Society
- CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
Smiff's PICK:CM Punk:I look for the momentum of the Straight Edge angle to continue. I think after CM Punks wins, Rey will join Straight Edge, resisting at first but finally accepting Straight Edge into his life.
Unified Tag Team Championship Match
- Big Show (c) & The Miz (c) vs. John Morrison & R-Truth
Smiff's PICK:ShoMiz:I figure this will be a pretty good match with a lot of high flying action from Truth & Morrison, but in the end I think the WWE has a good thing going with ShoMiz & the title reign will not end tonight.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
- Confirmed participants: Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Jack Swagger, Montel Vontavious Porter, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston
Smiff's PICK:Drew McIntyre:With all the trials & tribulations McIntyre had to go through to get in this match, I just feel like he got a mini MVP treatment to rise above it all & win Money in the Bank. This match will probably steal the show. I look for some great spots from Christian, Kofi Kingston & as always Shelton Benjamin. I also look for stars to be born in Evan Bourne & Dolph Ziggler.
Triple Threat:Randy Orton vs. Ted Dibiase vs. Cody Rhodes
Smiff's PICK:Cody Rhodes:In another great match on the card, I feel like it is time for the younger members of legacy to get some shine. They will work together on Orton until it becomes time to win causing each to turn on the other. With Ted starring in the Marine 2, it will finally be Cody's time to shine at WM.
- Bret Hart vs. Mr McMahon
Smiff's PICK:Mr McMahon:I look for some type of "screw job" in this one. Everybody figures its a lock for Bret to win so I figure just the opposite will happen. Since they have been quiet in this angle & not on the WM card, possibly some involvement from the Hart Dynasty, maybe a turn on Uncle Bret.
- Triple H vs. Sheamus
Smiff's PICK:Sheamus:I look for the rise of Sheamus to continue as they are building a new superstar. Triple H said it himself on Raw that if Sheamus beats him at WM his career would go to new heights.
- The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
Smiff's PICK:The Undertaker:This is probably the most intriguing match on the card. Streak vs career. While it is no secret that both of these guys are at the latter end of their career, I feel that the time has come for HBK to hang up his boots as the streak continues. This in my opinion will come in a very close second the MITB Ladder match of being the best of the night.
WWE Championship Match
- Batista (c) vs. John Cena
Smiff's PICK:Batista:I look for Batista's domination of John Cena to continue. I feel like they can really build this into being a great storyline & fued ending in a possible heel turn for Cena.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
- Chris Jericho (c) vs. Edge
Smiff's Pick:Edge:The Rated R Superstar will finally get his revenge on Y2J & become the new World Heavyweight Champion. This will be a great match & I look for both guys to hit their finisher at least once.
Overall, I look for WM to be a great show as I feel the WWE will pull out all stops to prove their product is superior to the uprising TNA. I be back after the show with the results & my opinion of the show.

Hoops Video: Vince Carter Soars in over Darko Milicic
Vince Carter must be getting some great treatment from the Orlando Magic training staff this season. VC, when healthy, is still finding a way to make some really difficult plays look routine.
Darko Milicic on the other hand doesn't want to play in the NBA anymore, and has made it publicly known that he wants to go back overseas to continue his basketball career.
The two players crossed paths. Take a look.

Two of America's high flyers recently faced off in the 2010 Russian Cup Dunk Contest, as Gerald Green & James "Flight" White faced off to see who's the best. Jail Time for Arenas
It seems that being suspended from the rest of the NBA season might not be the only punishment for Washington Wizards guard, Gilbert Arenas, & his gun charge. Hoops Video: Shaun Livingston Puts it Down Over Gasol
I was so happy to see this highlight of Shaun Livingston. It wasn't long ago that he suffered one of the most grotesque looking injuries that most basketball fans have ever seen. When his injury first happened, many questioned whether or not he would be able to walk normally again, much less play basketball at the professional level.
After an extensive rehab program and a few years away from the court, the former first round pick is back in the game and looking like he's ready to reestablish himself as a top talent. Check him here going baseline for the flush over Pau Gasol.

NHL Video: Travis Moen's Eye Cut by Opponents Skate
Being a professional hockey player comes with some added risk that isn't a part of other major sports. I've always thought you would see more accidents like this one, but the guys do a great job of maintaining body control more times than not.
In the following video, Travis Moen of the Montreal Canadiens takes a skate blade to the face from the Senator's center, Matt Cullen. Although you don't get a real good look at the skate/face impact, the blood on the ice says it all. It was definitely a very scary moment for the players on both teams.

I've been watching the NCAA tournament, but I haven't posted any videos of the outstanding action. Let's see if we can change that with an all-time great buzzer beater.
After Greivis Vasquez hit a two point bucket to give the Terps the lead 83-82, Michigan State's Draymond Green dribbled up the floor, found Korie Lucious behind the arc, and the rest is history. It's one of the best sequences in the history of the tournament.

The 2010 NCAA tourny is less than an hour away and my juices are definitely flowing. There isn't a better time of year for basketball fans. I ended up completing eight brackets this year. I've done more in years past, but eight is more than enough. If you follow this site, then you already know that I'm a Blue Devil lover, so there should be little doubt who I'll be really pulling for.All biases aside, my #1 brackets Final Four Picks are: Kansas, Syracuse, W. Virginia, and Duke.
I have Kansas versus W. Virginia in the championship game, with Kansas cutting down the nets in Indy on April 5.

NBA Commercial: Where Clutch Happens ( I Knew I Had to Knock It Down)
I think this is one of the coolest NBA commercials I've seen. The remixed post game comments with the rap-like twist is different. It's only fitting that the 'hook' is done by the guy with six game winners so far this season.

Fresh Foot Work.....A Tribute to Boxing's Manny Pacquiao

Boxing's Fight Calendar in 2010 is Full of Excellent Matchups
Starting with this past weekends performance by Devon Alexander and his stoppage of Juan Urango, the boxing world is about to go on a run with some tremendous action fights. The next five months are littered with very interesting matchups from featherweight to heavyweight. Names like Vazquez, Jones Jr., Hopkins, Pavlik, and Pacquiao will all be stepping into the ring and doing battle. Some folks may say that I'm exaggerating with this next point, but it's just how I feel. I think this could be one of the biggest years in boxing history with some of the things that are on the table.
This weekend is Pacquiao v Clottey in Dallas. I saw a report that 40,000 tickets had been sold so far and Jerry Jones has promised a spectacle like no other. The people are all rolling with Pacquiao from what I've read in the blogosphere. I haven't checked the betting lines on the fight, but I'm sure Pacquiao is a heavy favorite. Not many people seem to be leaning Clottey's way, but there are those who truly follow the game and believe as I do that Clottey definitely has all the tools necessary to gain an upset victory.
As a St. Louis guy, I'll be interested to see how the Deandre Latimore v Sechew Powell fight will go on March 19th. Latimore defeated Powell in an upset in 2008, making way for his title opportunity against Corey Spinks. Powell is looking for some retribution, and that could make for some fireworks.
The very next day an American heavyweight will attempt to dethrone Wladimir Klitschko. "Fast" Eddie Chambers , 35-1 with 18 knockouts, will have to make the trip overseas for his shot at the title The bout is to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany. "Dr. Steelhammer" is the reigning IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion of the world and hasn't lost a match in almost six years. Can Chambers shock the world or will the Klitschkos' dominance continue?
March 27 is kinda packed. The legend Erik Morales makes his comeback versus Jose Alfaro in a scheduled 12 round bout. Morales hasn't been in the ring since 2007 when he suffered a UD loss to David Diaz. "El Terrible" lost five of his last six bouts before shutting it down, but has said he can still fight and wants to test the waters again. Yoriorkis Gamboa will put his featherweight strap on the line against Jonathan Victor Barros. The Super Six tourny is on the 27th as well. Andre Direll v Arthur Abraham is going to be a battle of two totally different styles. Can Abraham use his solid defense and power punching to wear Direll down, or will Andre use his speed and quickness to frustrate and confuse "King Arthur"?
April heats up with a matchup that should have taken place a decade ago. Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. due battle April 3rd. The two living legends finally got past each others egos and got the deal done. I just hope that the fight is 1/3 as good as the original. Asking for anything more is foolish.
Some of boxing's biggest names are set to get bloody in April, including Kelly Pavlik, Andre Berto, Luis Callazo, Andre Ward, Allan Green, Karl Froch, Mikkel Kessler, and Cris Arreola. Lucian Bute will put his IBF super middlewight title on the line against Edison Miranda in Montreal on April 17th.
I almost feel like the boxing gods set up the perfect warmup for Mayweather v Mosley, and it was the entire month of April, because on May 1st all eyes should be fixed on an explosive welterweight event. Two of the sweet sciences' best pure talents will face off in what is alreay being deemed winner of fight of the year. Will Shane be able to get to Floyd and make him uncomfortable? Can Mayweather handle Mosley's combination of aggressiveness and power? A lot of questions will answered on the first of May. Whoever the winner is will have a lot of chips to bargain with for his bext fight.
Even though Mayweather v Mosley is getting the most attention, it may not even be the best fight in the month of May. On the 27th, Israel Vazquez will fight Rafael Marquez for the fourth time. Yes, a fourth time. It's clear these guys bring the best out of each other, and boxing fans are lucky they they realize it too. If any fight is worth watching in 2010, it may very well be this one. Vazquez and Marquez have waged epic wars and I believe their next fight to be more of the same.
With so many good things on the horizon this year in the sport of boxing it's hard to see why it can't reach some great new heights with fan appeal.

Hoops News: A Second Chance For Marion Jones with WNBA's Tulsa Shock
Via my peeps over at hoopfeed.com, former track & field star Marion Jones is expected to sign with the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA later today. A news conference is set for 11 a.m..That's good for her as far as I'm concerned. She cheated. She got caught. She went to grown up jail. Jones did her time and is now trying to regain some form of athletic credibility, something I doubt she will ever accomplish, but I still applaud her for the effort.
As for basketball, Jones who is now 34 years of age, played for the University of North Carolina in 1994 and was a key contributor in the teams national championship run. She played just that one year, choosing to turn her attention solely on track.
She was drafted in 2003 by the Phoenix Mercury.

Iverson Speaks via Twitter...
Allen Iverson isn't having a very good go of things at the moment. The former league MVP was hit with a divorce last week, on top of his agreed upon release from the Philadelphia 76ers. You wouldn't think that things could get much worse for Iverson who was already dealing with a sick daughter for whom he had been on leave to take care of prior to the sixer release.Rumors flooded the Internet Monday about AI and alleged alcohol and gambling problems. According to reports from Stephen A. Smith, some of Iverson's close friends are concerned about him and his current lifestyle choices.
Iverson had this to say via twitter(@alleniverson) on Monday Night:
To my fans: You all know that my life isn't perfect. I am going through some very tough times right now, like I am sure that we all do from time to time. However, I will stand tall like always with "rhino" thick skin. Even though I have become used to hearing people say things about me that aren't true, it still hurts. I encourage you to continue your ongoing support and I want you to trust that this is another obstacle in my life that, with God's help I will overcome. God Bless You All.
If Iverson does have alcohol and gambling problems I really hope, better yet I pray that he will seek professional help.

NBA Line of the Night

Hornets rookie point guard Darren Collison has done more than just be a replacement point guard for the injured Chris Paul this season, he's carved out a niche of his own in the guard heavy western conference.
On Monday night Collison led his New Orleans brethren to a 135-131 win over Golden State. Four players scored 28 points, two from both sides, but the line of the night belongs to the crafty young Collison.
His line: 20 dimes, 16 points, and 3 steals in just over 46 minutes. I will point out that he also had seven turnovers.

Hoops Video:Baylor's Griner Punches Texas Tech Opponent in the Face
Brittney Griner, who has been featured on this site before is going to find herself in some hot water over the next 24/48 hours with Baylor University and quite possibly the NCAA.
The freshman standout took offense to some physical play and lashed out with a punch to a Texas Tech player on Wednesday night. Griner was ejected from the game after she cold cocked Jordan Barncastle with an overhand right.
Check it out.

Allen Iverson Done in Philadelphia...

The Answer and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to part ways this season. Allen Iverson, who was granted a leave of absence from the team to be with his sick daughter last month, hasn't played since February 20 and has dealt with a nagging knee injury of his own. The team and Iverson came to the terms of his release on Tuesday.
"After discussing the situation with Allen, we have come to the conclusion that he will not return to the Sixers for the remainder of the season, as he no longer wishes to be a distraction to the organization and teammates that he loves very deeply," team president Ed Stefanski said.
At 34 years-old, Allen Iverson may have played his final game in the NBA. The former league MVP and scoring champion began this season with the Memphis Grizzlies, but only suited up for a handful of games before announcing a very short lived retirement.
Sports blogs had been buzzing with recent news that Iverson was spotted partying in a Charlotte nightclub over the weekend while on paid leave from the 76ers. The team didn't comment on the club speculation Tuesday, choosing to keep the announcment strictly about business.
I have to wonder if any team will be willing to take another shot at the NBA legend next season. The market this past offseason was weak in terms of interest(Memphis & LA Clippers) and wasn't much better once AI bolted from Memphis.

NBA Video: Delonte West Dunks on T-Mac
There was a time when Tracy McGrady was considered one of the premier athletes in all of the NBA. Just like produce from the grocery store, top talent has an expiration date and I think it's safe to say that Mcgrady's shelf life is just about up.
Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying that about Tracy to hate or anything, because the guy was as dynamic a player as the league has ever seen. Unfortunately, his inability to really contest Delonte West on the following highlight speaks to my point. The hops and explosiveness that once made him an elite talent are long gone.

NBA Line of The NIght...

The Oklahoma City Thunder have improved by leaps and bounds this season and it's not only thanks to Kevin Durant. Second year player Russell Westbrook has been every bit as valuable to the young ballers as Durant, and has done so in rather quiet fashion.
Tuesday's NBA Line of The Night belongs to Russell Westbrook.
His line: 30 points, 13 assists, 5 rebounds, in 42 minutes of action.
