The United States took care of business in Turkey and can now call themselves FIBA World Champions. Team USA defeated host Turkey 81-64 on Sunday, claiming their first world championship in 16 years.
Kevin Durant once again led the way offensively, knocking down seven three pointers en route to a 28 point performance. He also set a tournament record for points scored by a member of a US squad.
Although this team didn't have the mega-stars of the 2008 Olympic squad, they were just as impressive during their march to gold. As a unit they played fantastic defense and displayed some great teamwork.
They may have been billed as the "B team", but they earned an A+ during the World Championships. Congrats to Coach K and the entire US team on a wonderful accomplishment.
