Herschel Walker Proves Age Aint Nothing But a Number

As previously reported here, NFL legend Hershel Walker was in training for an MMA bout and on Saturday night Walker fulfilled his dream. Strikeforce held a live event from Miami featuring Cris Cyborg and Nate Diaz. The card that was televised was awesome. The former Olympian Walker stepped inside the octagon looking shredded and totally focused on the task at hand. His opponent Greg Nagy entered the bout with a record of 1-1.

Walker established control of the fight early by having better boxing technique. Within the first 35-45 seconds Nagy was bleeding from the noise and Herschel never looked back. Number #34 used and abused Nagy on the ground for majority of the fight, showing better skills then most assumed he had. The bout was called to a halt in the third and one of the great Tecmo Bowl running backs earned himself a TKO victory. Herschel really prepared for the moment and came out the better for it.

I will admit that even at 47 years old, he is in terrific condition and clearly can hold his own in glorified MMA sparring sessions! I take nothing away from his performance at all, but I'm glad that he didn't commit to fighting anymore during the post fight interview. I hope that he'll realize that he's proven his point and pursuing a career at this late age wouldn't be prudent.

Check out the fight footage below.
