NBA Video: Anderson Verejao Hits Game Winning 3 Pointer

Andy Verejao doesn't shoot many long range jumpers as we all know, so the makes the following clip that much sweeter. LeBron James celebrated his 25th birthday Wednesday night in grand style, leading the Cavs as he generally does. LeBron's 48 points wasn't enough to beat Atlanta and Verejao came up big at the end, scoring his first career three point basket. Check it out.

NBA Video: Jermaine O'Neal dunks on Emeka Okafor

The thing that makes this Jermaine O'Neal dunk special, besides the fact that Emeka Okafor is in his new poster boy, was that the finish was with the left hand.

Boxing News/Video: Floyd Mayweather Sparring Footage....

The Mayweather camp is very secretive when it comes to Floyd Jr. and his sparring sessions. For years Floyd's in ring sessions have been closed to the general public, but all that has changed. There's a leak via camp Mayweather resulting in footage of sparring being made available to the world.

For bight fans this is big. It's hot and may end up being hotter than the footage of LeBron James getting dunked on back during the summer. It's like finding a clip of Big Foot or witnessing Haley's comet. This type of thing doesn't happen everyday.

You can hear Mayweather insult his opponent numerous times by calling him a bitch. The best part about the entire clip is that the guy never backed down. He showed some heart by standing up to Floyd's verbal and physical assault. Check it out

Hoops Video: Demar DeRozan for NBA Slam Dunk 2009-10

As previously proclaimed here on Sport's with Mr. Factoid, Demar DeRozan should be a participant in the upcoming NBA slam dunk competition. I'm not the only person backing that notion as I learned this evening. There is a website up called LetDemarDunk.com that request your assistance with a petition to allow DeRozan to compete.

The kid can flat out sky, so do yourself and your buddies a favor and sign the petition. Before you do though, check out this clip.

I'm desperate to see the best dunkers put on a show, so I would also urge you to make your way over to DeRozan's site and help him find his way into your living room for NBA all-star Saturday night.

NBA Video: Delonte West Dunks on Josh Smith

Delonte West has had his share of personal issues this NBA season, but he and the Cavaliers are streaking at the moment. If you don't believe me, just ask Josh Smith and the Atlanta Hawks.

From the looks of the highlight Josh Smith never anticipated that West would actually raise up and dunk on him. He disrespected Delonte's athleticism and paid the price.

Note: After the game West fell into a deep depression because the team didn't stop at KFC for wings.

Video: ESPN's Brian Kenny Takes Lesson From Floyd Mayweather.

ESPN's Brian Kenny and boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather have engaged in some heated interviews in the past, with both guys coming out on top on different occasions. As I post this video, Mayweather v Pacquiao is still up in the air. Bob Arum had given a deadline of Monday to the Mayweather camp for them to back off their previous demands for Olympic style drug testing. I haven't heard anything new today.

Video: Tony Parker and Eva Longoria-Parker with 'Summer Nights' from the Movie Grease

Tony Parker and his 'Desperate Housewife', Eva Longoria-Parker got all dressed up to perform their version of "Summer Nights" from the classic movie/musical Grease. It's tough to pull off successful remakes, and this proves the point without question. This is bad. Real bad. Take a look.

Tony's wig is horrible. The whole production is comical. I think that was Jacque Vaughn who made a guest appearance. Haven't seen that guy in ages. The former Kansas Jayhawk couldn't make this piece any better.

Note: I will forgive TP for this for two reasons: 1) Eva is hot. 2) Top tier fantasy PG on multiple teams for me.

Saw it on Barenucks.com first.

NBA Video: DeAndre Jordan Dunks the Celtics...

The Clippers pulled off a major upset last night at the Staples Center. The game had some great highlights, including DeAndre Jordan finishing off an alley-oop from Baron Davis. Check it out.

If Baron Davis and the Clippers get Blake Griffin back soon, find some chemistry, and start committing to defense they will have a chance to make the playoffs in the Western conference. I'm not saying that they are going to be a top seed, because they wont be, but maybe they can position themselves at or near the 7th or 8th seed.

Video: Alabama Fans Celebrate Julio Jones with Rap Song in His Honor

Fans are some of the most creative people on the planet. They'll do anything for their favorite teams and players, even if it makes them look like complete goofs in the process. I'm never shocked at the antics of die hard fans.

The SEC may have the most emotionally involved football fans in all of college sports, so to see Alabama fans come up with the following video is of little surprise.

Factoids Picks: NFL Picks for Week 16

It feels like the NFL season just began, but here we are at week 16. For many teams the playoffs are still up in the air, which is great news for pro football fans across the country. The Colts are now the only undefeated team in the league at 14-0. They will face the Jets this week.

At this point in the season I have a record of 147-77 and still have an outside shot at winning a couple NFL pick em leagues. I didn't ask Santa to bring me those victories, so they probably won't happen, but wishful thinking never hurt anybody! LOL!

I just want to wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas and thank you so much for your continued support of Sports with Mr. Factoid.

Here are my picks for week 16 of the NFL season.

NBA Post: These Guys Should be in the 2010 Dunk Contest

The NBA slam dunk competition has been better the last two or three years thanks to stars like Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson. The creative energy that had been lacking for the greater part of the decade has returned and it couldn't have happened soon enough for fans of NBA all-star weekend.

We are all waiting for LeBron James to make a decision about whether or not he will participate in this years contest. As you may remember, James said he would be throwing his name into this years dunk contest hat last year, but has since backed down from his statements.

The dunk contest should feature the most athletic stars in the NBA every year. There are so many high flyers in the league that they should want to showcase that raw ability for all to see. It's the biggest stage any dunker could ever be on. As far as I'm concerned it's their duty to the fans who pay their hard earned money on tickets, food, and beer.

For the 2010 all-star game I want to see some of the top guys perform on center stage. In years past we have been subjected to contests with limited dunkers and garbage gimmicks, but I want to see a traditional competition with at least eight dunkers this year. The last time the contest featured eight dunkers was in 1991.

Here are the guys that NEED to participate in the upcoming NBA dunk contest:

Dwight Howard- Superman has brought excitement back to the slam dunk contest with his creative flare and superior hops. His desire to push the envelope keeps fans intrigued.

Nate Robinson- Little Nate Robinson has captured two dunk contest titles over the last three years, displaying tremendous heart and enthusiasm while doing so. Robinson is arguably the best little man dunker of all time and a crowd favorite.

Josh Smith- There may not be a more athletic player in the league than Josh Smith. He can jump out of the gym at a moments notice, and do so with relative ease. Smith won the slam dunk back in 2005.

Gerald Wallace- One of the most underrated players in the NBA, Gerald Wallace has the ability to soar with all the high flyers.

Rudy Gay- Young, talented, and vertically gifted are all adjectives to describe Rudy Gay. The Memphis Grizzlies star is coming into his own this season and would be a wonderful addition to the dunk contest.

Amare Stoudamire- STAT is one of the most ferocious dunkers in the NBA. Whenever he dunks the ball you have to be worried about the basket being torn down from the sheer force alone. Stoudamire I believe is more than just a power dunker, and he would fit right in with all the other superior athletes on this list.

DeMar Derozan- The Toronto Raptors rookie isn't a stranger to dunk competitions. He won the McDonald's All-American Slam Dunk Contest in 2008 and has already put a few veteran NBA players on posters this season.

LeBron James- The ratings will go through the roof is King James takes part in the dunk competition this season. LeBron is clearly one of the most explosive talents to ever pick up a basketball, but does he have the balls to compete in the slam dunk? I for one hope that he will enter for the greater good.

Well, this is my fantasy dunk competition list for 2010. I certainly won't be betting that all these guys will be involved, but it made me feel better to at least put my thoughts out there. No matter what happens or who's involved, I will be watching in February

NBA Video: House Behind the Back to Tony Allen for the Jam...

The Celtics have a lot of weapons on their squad. Everyone is familiar with the Big 3, but the role players can often times steal the show. Last night, Eddie House and Tony Allen did just that.

House, who is known as a spark plug offensive talent, showed that he can pass the rock with the best of them. Eddie tracked down a loose ball and saved it with a behind the back pass to teammate Tony Allen. TA took care of the rest with a massive throwdown on Minnesota Timerwolves G/F Corey Brewer. Check it out.

All is fair when playing above the rim. It was just two weeks ago that Brewer was on the other end of a big time dunk when he abused Derek Fisher. Gotta luv that karma.

Friday Link Dump: What Caught Factoids Eye?

The last two days have been full of speculation regarding Chris Henry. The 26 year-old Bengals wide receiver passed away Thursday after complications from a car accident involving he and his fiance.

The story is even more tragic because Henry, who had had numerous legal issues since entering the league in 2005, had been trouble free for the last 18-24 months and appeared to have put his past behind him.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has requested a moment of silence before all NFL games this week in honor of Henry's memory. The Bengals will also wear a #15 sticker on their helmets for the remainder of the season.

Henry had been inactive for the Bengals since suffering an arm injury earlier in the season. My thoughts and prayers are with Henry's family during these tough times.

Here are a few things that caught my eye at 3:15 in the a.m.

Video: Deron Williams Wants/Needs Your Vote for All-Star Game

I've been saying that Deron Williams is the best point guard in the NBA for a couple of seasons, yet he has zero all-star appearances to show for it. He's been to the Western Conference Finals and even won an Olympic gold medal with team USA at the Beijing games, but finds himself still seeking his first trip to mid-season extravaganza.

Williams, who is in his fifth season is averaging a career high 20.4 ppg and dropping 10.3 apg. The Jazz point guard is also shooting 48% from the field. Check him out here in his All-Star ad.

NBA players have found new ways to self-promote themselves over the last few years when it comes to getting the fans to vote for them. Players like Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire have released self made promotional videos in order to attract fans. I enjoyed Bosh's ad a few years ago when he dawned a cowboy hat and made a 'car salesman' like pitch for votes. It was classic.

You can vote for Deron Williams on NBA.com or by heading over to deronwilliams.com.

Props to J.E. Skeets and utahbasketaballjohn for posting the vid.

The Tiger Woods story has gone from bad to worse with these latest allegations of possible involvement with PED's. Woods reportedly had ties with Anthony Galea, a doctor who was recently stopped with human growth hormone and another substance (Actovegin). Galea was stopped in Toronto back in October, and has since found himself under investigation by the FBI in the state of Buffalo. I also heard he had some Balco ties. Not a good sign.

Tiger doesn't want to be associated with that rotten egg known as steroids, so he better distance himself as far away from the public as possible while he can. Even though I just dropped some Woods news, I'm sick of hearing about it. Let him go away and make peace with his wife, in peace.

Boxing News: Paul Williams Survives Sergio Martinez in a December Classic

Paul Williams was lucky to escape with a victory Saturday night. Sergio Martinez was everything that Williams could handle and at some points more during their middleweight bout in Atlantic City.

Martinez(44-2-2) and Williams(38-1) put on a semi-classic that had fireworks from the opening round till the final bell. Both men scored knockdowns in round 1, Martinez's coming at the end of the round.

For the first three rounds Williams had trouble locating Martinez. Sergio used good movement and was able to counter Paul, landing clean shots of his own. On several occasions Martinez tattooed Williams with big right hands. The attack was similar to the fight with Williams & Carlos Quintana.

The middle rounds were better for Williams, although he did sustain a cut in the fourth due to a headbutt. Paul was able to land his jab, but not much else that ever hurt Martinez. Even with William's high activity rate, Sergio was still landing the bigger and more hurtful shots. I never once saw "The Punisher" set down on any punch.

After six rounds I had the fight scored 57-57.

The second half of the fight saw a war of will and stamina take hold of a wonderful bout. Both Williams and Martinez showed fatigue from about round seven on, but both pressed forward trying to fight their fight.

Martinez never appeared intimidated by the man that has just been deemed "the most avoided fighter in boxing". He fought a slick fight, and I do mean slick. He moved away from the long armed Williams with great skill. Williams corner pleaded for body work, but Paul couldn't get there. Sergio was able to effectively neutralize some of what Williams is about.

Unfortunately though for the Spaniard, he was only able to stop some of what Williams is about. The thing about Paul that you have to realize is that he is throwing punches whether they land flush or not. He's a guy with a motor to throw. The volume outweighs the connect percentage. His points add up on sure aggressiveness and pursuit.

In the later rounds Williams bled badly from the face and mouth, as a result of some clean blows landed from Martinez, but he continued to throw punches.

The fatigued worsened for Martinez down the stretch. It was clear that if both men had trained for each other for 90 days that this would have been a different fight.

Going into the 12th and final round I had it scored 106-103 for Williams

The 12th was two guys trying to finish a marathon of carnage. They both landed a few, clinched more than they punched, and escaped with a standing ovation from the crowd.
As to be expected with boxing there was some 'questionable' scoring at the end. Here are your official scores:

Julie Lederman 114-114

Lynne Carter 115-113 (Williams)

Pierre Benoist 119-110 (Williams)

There wasn't a person watching the fight at the arena nor at home on their couch that would have scored that fight 119-110. The people that watched with me called a draw when the fight was over. I actually had it 116-112 for Williams, and it was very close. A couple of rounds that I gave Williams could easily have been for Martinez. I gained a new respect for Sergio and hope to see him in some good fights very soon.

I'm a Paul Williams fan, (that's if you weren't paying attention) and his performance tonight left me happy that he was victorious but concerned about him in the future. This certainly wasn't his best performance and he once again struggled with another southpaw. His team needs to look at some of the defensive flaws that were exposed tonight and make the necessary corrections. If they do that, great. But I fear if they don't, the top competition he seeks may be able to take advantage of some weaknesses.

At the end of the bout, both fighters said they had little problem with a rematch if that's what HBO wanted. For Paul Williams' sake, he should move on from fighting slick southpaws. It's a bad career move.

Boxing Video: Roy Jones Jr. Gets TKO'd by Danny Green in Round 1

December 2nd was supposed to be a tuneup date for Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins as they prepared to do battle with each other once again. The two future boxing hall of famers agreed to step back into the ring against each other, but not before each man took care of business against a proposed 'setup'. Jones traveled to Australia to fight Danny Green, and Hopkins fought in his home town of Philadelphia against Enrique Ornelas.

Unfortunately, the storyline ended up much better for one man than the other on Wednesday night, as Jones Jr. was obliterated by Green inside of one round. Check it out.

Hopkins faired far better against Ornelas, gaining a unanimous decision victory and showing the same level of skill that allowed him to dominate the middleweight division for 10 years. Hopkins claimed to still be interested in making the rematch with Jones Jr. happen during his post fight interview. B-Hop also made it clear that he wants to fight for and win the heavyweight title in 2010, a feat that would be nothing short of amazing for the soon to be 45 year old.

Fight fans should keep their collective eyes and ears open in the coming weeks for some sort of rematch announcement. As much as I want to see these two old guys hook it up again, I really doubt that it will happen, especially after Jones Jr. dropped the ball down under.

Note: Roy still owns a trinket title belt which was not on the line when he was stopped by Green. He is the WBO NABO light heavyweight champion

Fight News: Pacquiao v Mayweather Almost Official for March 13th

Boxing fans have got to be drooling uncontrollably right now. According to various reports, a mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will be set for March 13th. Mayweather has agreed to all the terms, which haven't been released yet, and Bob Arum is set to travel to Manila, Philippines to close the deal with Pacquiao.

News also came out today that Pacquiao will be running for political office in 2010, a move that played heavily in the dating of the fight. Locations for the bout are still up in the air, but Dallas, Las Vegas, and New Orleans are currently at the top of the list for possible venues.

I will continue to search for details and will update when I have more information.

The report is directly from Yahoo sports and writer Kevin Iole. Shout out to the BoxingScene.com for dropping the post as well.

Tuesday Link Dump (12/1/09): What Caught Factoids Eye?

There are two main stories dominating the sports blogosphere today. The first is the Tiger Woods car accident. The second is the retirement of FSU head football coach Bobby Bowden after 34 years leading the program.

Let's start with Woods. The Florida Highway Patrol said Tiger will be cited for careless driving following the incident at his home over the weekend. Woods will face a fine of $164 and four point against his license. The citation ends the FHP's 'investigation'.

The patrol "is not pursuing criminal charges in this matter nor is there any testimony or other evidence to support any additional charges of any kind other than the charge of careless driving," Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Tiger got off easy when it comes to the penalty, however he has tarnished his image and reputation with the way he handled the incident.

Bobby Bowden is out in Tallahassee after more than three decades of service. Coach Bowden won two National Championships and goes down as the winningest coach in ACC history. While at the helm he went 14 consecutive seasons with his team ranked in the top five in the nation. That's a crazy stat. The man is second on the all-time wins list(388), only trailing Joe Paterno of Penn State.

FSU will turn to Jimbo Fisher to lead the program and get Florida State back to national prominence.

NBA: Line of Last Night (11/30/09)

Utah's Carlos Boozer had a superb line to close out the month of November.

The Jazz PF/C finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. He shot 64% from the field and was perfect from the free throw line.

Video: Adidas to Take NBA Jersey Making Overseas

Adidas plans to take its NBA jersey business overseas, a move that is causing quite the stir on Capitol Hill. Senator Chuck Schumer is fighting along with American Classic Outfitters to keep Adidas from shutting down production at a plant in New York. The plant currently employs more than 90 workers who would find themselves unemployed if the global sportswear giant cancels its current contract with ACO.

American Classic Outfitters has been producing NBA jerseys for four decades. I support any move that keeps jobs here in the United States. In the following clip
Rob Knoll, the senior VP at American Classic Outfitters speaks on the current relationship with Adidas and what his company plans to do in opposition of the move.

Mr. Knoll didn't sound very optimistic during his interview and that leads me to believe that any hope of saving the contract may be long gone. I would normally say that any Senator spending time on issues involving professional sports is wasting the governments money and resources, but in this case I genuinely hope that Mr. Schumer and ACO can find a way to convince Adidas to change their mind.

NHL Video: Keith Ballard Almost Decapitates His Own Goalie

The NHL is a violent league that features crushing collisions and team fist fights. You always have to he aware of your opposition, just in case somebody has it out for you. Tomas Vokoun was struck by his own teammate Keith Ballard during a game between Atlanta and Florida. After Vokoun gave up a goal to Ilya Kovalchuk he found himself on his back and bleeding. Ballard, out of apparent frustration swung his stick and clocked Vokoun in the side of the head and face. Check it out.

I don't want to stir things up, but upon looking at the last angle in the replay, it almost looks like Ballard hits Vokoun on purpose. The way he swung the stick it was like he was saying 'you idiot, how could you give up that damn goal?' I hope that it was indeed accidental, because if it wasn't Ballard should be up on assault charges.
