Video: QB with a Behind the Back Pass

I've been watching football for years and I've never witnessed anything quite like this before. Coaches everywhere will surely be looking to implement this nifty little play into their offense, especially if it can win games.

Will Briscoe, the quarterback for Central High School in Louisiana completed a behind the back pass for a two point conversion against rival Zachary High. We all love a good trick play, and this certainly counts as one of the best of all times. Check it out.

If anyone out there has ever seen anything like this please fill me in. The play-action wasn't even that great, but the end result was money. That was truly an amazing play!

Line of The Night

On the second night of the 2009-2010 NBA season we got our first taste of a full slate of games. There were a lot of strong performances to choose from, but only one player walks away with the glory.

Tonight's line belongs to LeBron James.

23 points, 12 dimes, 11 rebounds, 2 steals

Although James recorded his 25th career triple-double, his Cavs lost their second game in as many nights.

NBA: Opening Night Line of The Night

The NBA is back, and so is the Line of The Night. If you are new to the site, and I'm sure that a lot of you are, we drop the best stat line of the day from around the association. Opening night 2009-2010 featured some of the leagues best players including LeBron, Kobe, Dirk, Gilbert, and more.

Tonight's line doesn't scream high scorer, but it does demonstrate what the Line of the Night is all about.

Lamar Odom played 40 minutes and had 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 dimes, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Monday's Link Dump: What Caught Factoids Eye?

The weekend in sports was rather bland. College football is still screwed up with the BCS, although nothing happened that made it any worse. UFC 104 was pretty good on Saturday night though, and Sunday was full of NFL blow outs. Steve Phillips got fired at ESPN and Mark McGwire was named the new hittng coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lets see what headlines and stories have caught my eye this Monday afternoon.

Video: Blake Griffin Block and Ferocious Slam

I just posted a dunk that Blake Griffin had over DJ Mbenga last week, and here I am again posting a Griffin dunk highlight. The boy is a beast.

Peja thought about stepping up and then thought better of that idea! The NBA regular season starts tomorrow. Hoops fans are you ready? I am.

Video: Adrian Peterson Trucks William Gay of The Steelers......Instant Classic!

Adrian Peterson is putting together a serious highlight tape this season. With each week 'All Day' AP is building a resume of hits that rival some of the best backs in NFL history. Names like Earl Campbell and Jim Brown come to mind, based on the smack that is getting laid down on would be defenders.

Peterson's latest victim was Steelers CB William Gay. If you haven't seen it, here you go. Brace yourself for impact.

Peterson had 129 total yards(69 rushing) and a score, but his Vikings came up short, losing to the defending champion Steelers 27-17. Unfortunately for Gay, this highlight will follow he and Peterson forever.

Link Dump: What Caught Factoids Eye?

It's a wonderful Friday in Mr. Factoids neighborhood to say the least. I just picked up some tickets to Thursday nights regular season opener for the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. They get the privilege of getting the year kicked off against the San Antonio Spurs. I've been living in St. Louis my entire life, but I have never been to Chicago. I think I picked a good game to make that reality come true!

My St. Louis Rams(0-6) get a shot at Peyton Manning and the Colts Sunday. That should be a huge game for everyone on the offensive side of the ball for Indy. Tickets for that were much easier to score.

It's gonna be a great weekend, but let's see what caught my eye today.

Boxing News: Kelly Pavlik vs. Paul Williams......Cancelled.....Again!

The WBC middleweight champion has cancelled his upcoming bout with "The Punisher" Paul Williams, again! Kelly Pavlik, who was scheduled to meet Williams on Dec. 5 was forced to pull out of the bout because of an infected left hand.

Pavlik, who is 35-1 with 31 knockouts hasn't fought since a February bout with Marco Antonio Rubio. The Youngstown, Ohio native contracted a staph infection on his left hand sometime following the Rubio fight. He has had two subsequent surgeries in order to get him back to 100%, but according to reports Kelly is unable to make a fist at this time, thus forcing him to cancel a third straight fight.

For Williams, this has to be a huge disappointment. His last fight was in April when he thoroughly dominated defensive wizard and former jr. middleweight champ Winky Wright. The Pavlik fight was slow to be made by both sides and he has now dealt with two cancellations, slowing down his normal fighting regimen. This is currently the longest layoff of his Williams career.

Williams promoter Dan Goosen is said to be looking for a replacement for the Dec. 5 HBO bout. The list of A-list fighters that are going to step in and face Williams is very slim, so I look for Goosen to find an adequate journeyman fighter with some crowd appeal. Unfortunately for Williams, he just can't get a big fight against a big name in any division.

Note: Josh Clottey was scheduled to face Carlos Quintana on the undercard. That bout has also been scrapped.

Video: Dikembe Mutombo and Taco Bell Team Up to Fight Hunger

Many sports fans have become immune to all the bad news about their star athletes these days. The negativity seems to outweigh the positive coverage, so when I see some good being done, I want the people to be made aware of it.

Dikembe Mutombo, a great humanitarian, has teamed up with Taco Bell to combat the worlds fight against hunger. Mutombo is asking patrons of Taco Bell to donate $1 to help feed families across the world. Dikembe, who has his own foundation (Dikembe Mutombo Foundation) is working with a group called World Hunger Relief 2009 for this cause.

Mutombo has proven himself to be an excellent basketball player, but a much better person. Kudos to Dikembe!

Photo Image: Duke Basketball Team as the Goodfellas

This is the Duke basketball team for 2009-2010 posing as a bunch of 'GoodFellas'. I'm a Duke fan for as long as I've been watching college basketball, so let's get that straight up front.

Now, despite lacking toughness and grit over the last few years, Duke is looking to turn it up a notch on the "mean meter". A GoodFellas theme is a good start, but coach K is going to need more than a tough photo from his kids to win the ACC and another NCAA title. The Devils will need to be more physical in the paint and display much better perimeter defense this season.

The intimidation factor of playing at Cameron Indoor has faded slightly, so maybe pretending to be gangstars & killers will bring that edge back to the players that represent Blue Devil nation. I sure hope so!

I immediately turned over to ESPN, but they haven't made any comments that I've heard at least, which is to be expected. The blog world is going ape crap over it though. Boxing Note: Jermain Taylor Should Call it Quits

Boxing fans can all recall how big a name Jermain Taylor became in 2005 when he defeated Bernard Hopkins not once, but twice to claim his spot as undisputed middleweight champion of the world. It elevated his career to new heights.

Taylor's career hasn't been very rosy since. Despite fighting to a draw with Winky Wright(I thought he lost) in 2006 and then surviving with a win against Corey Spinks(I thought it was a draw) in 2007, he was still viewed as the 'man' because he beat B-Hop. He was a fighter that had done the improbable against Hopkins, but had glaring weaknesses which had been exposed by Wright and Spink. Taylor's critiques found those flaws and jumped on board the bandwagon, but he pressed on as champion.

Kelly Pavlik's 7th round knockout of Taylor was the beginning of the end. As we all recall Taylor had Pavlik hurt and down early, but punched himself out, paving the way for a brutal beat down by the 'Ghost'. It was a bad loss. I don't think Jermain ever recovered psychology from punching himself out and getting knocked out in the Pavlik bout. The rematch was pointless and the win over Jeff Lacy proved nothing more than he could beat a one handed fighter.

Point: Taylor moved up to super middleweight after Pavlik loss.

In April of this year Taylor took on Carl Froch for Froch's WBC super middleweight title. He was in it early, even scoring a knockdown over Froch in round 3, but he faded late. The end result was a nasty 12th round TKO stoppage. Taylor was battered around in that final round like a rag doll and was defenseless when the referee stopped the fight. Taylor couldn't find the third wind to carry him down the stretch and his suspect chin failed him. Yet another bad loss.

Let's fast forward to this past weekend and the opening round of the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Taylor, who's last bout was against Froch, enters his matchup with "King" Arthur Abraham without a tuneup fight. That wasn't a smart move by his camp. It's just makes sense to me that they would have put Jermain in there with somebody to build his confidence back, but that goes down in the book as a fail. The fight belonged to Abraham from the middle 5th on and Taylor once again was the victim of a very ugly knockout loss with just seconds remaining in the 12th round. Taylor spent a night or two in the hospital as the result of a straight right to the kisser. You grasp that this was a bad loss as well.

The fact that the losses have been crushing, KO defeats is what concerns me the most. Jermain Taylor was a good fighter, but he can't afford to be on the other end of knockouts very long. Moving up to super middleweight certainly hasn't been the answer he wanted in order to get his mojo back. I would hope that he considers shutting it down, before he is seriously injured.

Note: If a fighter withdraws from the Super Six, Allan Green is the alternate.

Video: Deron Williams and Rainn Wilson for the NBA on TNT

Hoops fans we've dropped the Rainn man with Dwight Howard and Gilbert Arenas on you already, but here he is with Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams. Williams continues to be in a hotly contested debate along with Chris Paul as to the best point guard in the game. You may have heard my vote previously, but if you haven't been so lucky, I side with Williams.

Looks like "Mr. No Look Pass" got jacked up. Williams leads the Jazz this year as they try to get the longest tenured head coach in pro sports his first championship ring. Good luck with that task coach Deron.

Maybe it's not all the coaches and players in Washington. Let's be real here. They have changed personnel multiple times. Might the team need to get a new owner? Daniel Snyder has been less than electrifying in the ownership role. Building fantasy teams in the NFL typically doesn't work. I just wish somebody would have explained that Mr. Snyder before he took over.

Brad Penny is the Ladies Man-Larry Brown Sports

I think Drew Brees is an outstanding quarterback, and his production the last several years has been magnificent. The guy has been on a least one of my fantasy squads the last three years. Currently has 13 TD's and 1,400 yards passing. Sean Payton does a great job of calling the plays and from the looks of things he and Brees have great chemistry, but everyone is jumping the gun by giving him the best QB in the league crown. I see it how this could be possible, but it unfortunately isn't true. I still love Brees though.

Let us not forget that Peyton Manning is still in the National Football League. His play has been nothing short of masterful leading this season as he has led the Colts to a 5-0 record with a contest against the pitiful St. Louis Rams this week. Manning has 12 TD's and nearly 1,700 yards through five games. He is on his way to his 10th 4,000 yard passing season, while posting the second best QB rating(114.1) of his career. Consistent, Consistent, Consistent!

So Dwight Howard shot another commercial, this one for NBA Live 10 which bears his image. (I haven't played NBA Live in years).

The NBA's most explosive center is all over the place in this EA ad displaying the talents that have led him to stardom. Howard joins some little kids on the blacktop for recess, plays a little one-on-one with some random white guy, puts on a dunking showcase at Venice Beach, hits the weights, and embarrasses a bunch of mimes, all while jogging and flashing that boyish grin. Video: NHL Star Georges Laraque in Trouble Over Alcohol Ad

The National Hockey League has a rule that prohibits any of its players from endorsing or sponsoring alcoholic beverages of any sort. The rule is part of the leagues most current collective bargaining agreement.

Apparently, the Montreal Canadiens defensive star Georges Laraque either didn't get the memo or just flat out disregarded the policy all together. Laraque has caused a stir with his recent endorsement of an alcoholic energy drink called "Octane 7.0". I wasn't personally aware that any alcoholic energy drinks existed, but that is besides the point. Georges and some rather sexy young women are playing a game of street hockey in the online ad that has caused all the controversy.

The NHL has yet to determine a punishment for the Canadiens star, who has since apologized for participating in the commercial. He claimed it was all for charity.

I've seen worse, but league policy is league policy. Here is the video for your viewing pleasure.

UFC Welterweight champion George "Rush" St. Pierre is arguably the best fighter in MMA history. He has beaten all the best fighters that Dana White and the UFC have been able to throw at him, but he still wants more. The champ sat down with the folks over at Affliction Vision for an interview. Check it out.

As much as UFC fans want to see a matchup between St. Pierre and Anderson Silva, it just doesn't seem likely. As GSP stated in the interview it would be a catchweight fight requiring one fighter to either move up in weight or move down. With Silva moving up the ladder to test the waters at light heavyweight, the bout becomes less reality and more fantasy.

WWE Hell In A Cell Predictions

Tonight WWE will be bring you Hell In A Cell live on PPV. It is a card full of some great matches, with a few of them being held in the steel monster known as the Hell In A Cell, hence the name. Well here are my predictions for each match on tonights card.

R Truth vs Drew McIntyre
My prediction-Drew McIntyre, will get the win as they try to build him up to a viable superstar on the Smackdown brand.

WWE Divas Title Match Mickie James vs. Alicia Fox
My Prediction-Your winner & new Divas Champ, Alicia Fox

WWE Intercontinental Title Match John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler
My Prediction-In what will be one of the, if not the best match of the night, Dolph Ziggler will become the new IC Champ in a match full of action & great new spots.

Triple Threat for the WWE United States Title Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger

My Prediction-With the different styles of these 3 competitors, this is going to be another canidate for match of the night, but I see The Miz winning this one & becoming the new US Champ.

WWE Unified Tag Team Title Match
Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. Batista & Rey Mysterio

My Prediction-In a match that had no time to build up a storyline to even be on the PPV, I see Jericho & Big Show retaining even though all signs point otherwise.

Hell in a Cell Tag Team Match
DX vs. Legacy

My Prediction-In what will definitely be a battle to the finish, Legacy will get the win over DX & will finally be looked at as legitimate contenders for not only the Undisputed Tag Titles, but also turning them into true main event caliber stars.

Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Title
John Cena vs. Randy Orton

My Prediction-In a match that we've already seen a million times, the Hell In A Cell provides a new element & I feel both superstars will go out to make this the match of the night. I look for some new & innovative spots in this one as Randy Orton will pull out the victory to once again become WWE Champ.

Hell in a Cell for the World Heavyweight Title
CM Punk vs. The Undertaker

My Prediction-With The Undertakers finisher Hell's Gate once again becoming a factor & The Undertaker being the one of the kings of Hell In A Cell, the deck seems to be stacked against CM Punk. With that being said, I look for some type of outside interference in this match leading to CM Punk retaining the World Championship.

So there you have it, my predictions for tonight's Hell In A Cell. This will basically become a night of new champions with all the belts except the World & Undisputed Tag Titles changing hands in what will become a decent PPV.

Video: Kimbo vs Roy Nelson on TUF 10

Last night Kimbo Slice took on Roy Nelson during the Ultimate Fighter competition. The fight went about a round and a half before referee Herb Dean stopped it. So far this season the show has been on point, but the masses who may have tuned in Wednesday night had to be let down by Slice's performance. Here is the fight in its entirety.

Kimbo still doesn't have the ability to fight off of his back, and that was evident against Nelson. He definitely needs to improve that aspect of his game or he doesn't stand a chance against the top fighters in the world. Rampage joked that Slice couldn't get away from Roy's belly, but that is just a lame excuse. I hope that Kimbo will continue working to improve his craft because his name alone is still a huge draw for MMA.
